Now that you’ve found your gown, it’s time to complete your look. There is no right or wrong when it comes to accessorizing for your big day, so have fun with it! Here are a couple little tidbits to think about while you prepare the final touches:
- Heirlooms. Get creative before doing your accessory shopping. Are there any great statement pieces in your family that you could wear on your wedding day? This is a great way to find your something old, borrowed, or blue. If there is a beautiful piece of jewelry in your family, don’t be afraid to ask to wear it; it’s truly an honor to that special someone that it belongs to.
- To veil or not to veil? That’s a big question these days, and unfortunately there is no answer. About 50% of brides are doing one or the other, so you can’t go wrong! A great veil makes a show-stopping bridal statement for your entrance and often completes the gown. If you are having trouble finding one you love, don’t be discouraged; there is definitely one out there for you and a great stylist can help you hunt it down. Sometimes brides just don’t feel the love when it comes to a veil and that’s OK, too. Try on a bird-cage hairpiece for a flirty look or stay down to earth with a stunning flower crown. There are so many options to choose from!
- The bling. As women with fine taste, we become mesmerized with the overwhelming number of sparkly things in a bridal boutique. Yes, they are beautiful, and YES, we want them all! You absolutely should sparkle on your wedding day and stylists looooove to help with that. Between belts, earrings, necklaces, and hairpieces, the general rule of thumb is “pick three.” If you’re in love with a statement necklace, maybe keep the earring to a stud and opt for a thin belt. Or, leave out the necklace and wear a blinging sash with great earrings. It’s important to let the sparkle enhance your look and not overcrowd it. We want to see your smile! (And that ring!)
- You’ll always remember what you wore on your wedding day. And that’s the best part about it. Choose pieces that you love! Wear your wedding day earrings out to dinner on all your anniversaries. Give your BFF your veil as her something borrowed. Pass down your bracelet to your daughter and create your own family heirloom. These pieces will become memories of the the day you married the love of your life. So, pick the prettiest and love your whole look! You’ll be glad you did.
