From the Bride:
Our love story began on our first date, bonding over our favorite condiments and Derek attempting to order a bottle of wine in Italian. From the beginning, life was easy together!
After failed attempts at a hot air balloon proposal (Maddie’s dream), Derek got down on one knee in the rose garden at Loose Park. That same bench has become the home of our new Chipotle picnic tradition, which was our first stop home as an engaged couple, for obvious reasons!
Our year engagement was so special, filled with showers, parties, and events surrounded by our of our loved ones. Unlike many brides, I could the planning process to be so fun and easy, meeting the nicest people along the way! We decided on June 16th, 2018, as this date was Derek’s parent’s 40th anniversary. Derek and I wanted a venue where we had not celebrated another wedding at before, so we decided that Lake Quivira was the perfect little lake getaway, as I have many family memories growing up there. The wedding party arrived to cocktail hour via pontoon boats, where we later danced the night away, never leaving the dance floor. We ended up topping the night off with s’mores and a bonfire on the beach. The day turned out absolutely perfect and we will never forget the memories!
