From the Bride:
How they Met:
One day at lunch my freshman year of college, a friend of mine asked me if I had found a date to our upcoming sorority date party. When I told her “no” and asked if she had any ideas, she told me she would set me up with someone. “I have a few guys in mind,” she told me. “Do you want me to ask the blonde or the brunette one?” Little did I know that answering that question meant meeting my future husband.
The Proposal:
Fast-forward a few years later, the week before I started medical school. Steve and I took a trip to Colorado to get one last adventure in before I had to study all the time. He brought his drone on a hike up to Mohawk Lake, and we took it out to fly at a beautiful remote lake on top of the mountain. As I looked in monitor showing the beautiful views from the drone, I saw Steve behind me – down on one knee! I turned around and there he was with a beautiful ring, asking if I would share the rest of my life with him.
The Wedding:
A short year later, it was our wedding morning. I was so excited to give Steve a present I’d been working on for a long time. For years, every time I found a “lucky penny” on the ground, I would say a prayer for my future husband. I kept all the pennies I’d found in a jar to give to my husband on our wedding day. I gave it to Steve’s brother to give him on our wedding morning. (Spoiler: When Steve opened it and found out what it was, he cried so hard he couldn’t even speak to tell his groomsmen what it was. One of the many things I love about him.)
Our friends and family came in town from all over the country (and even across the ocean) to celebrate with us. We were so overwhelmed with the joy and support of everyone there. The band at our reception was so much fun, and the dance floor was packed the entire night. It was such an amazing day, and we couldn’t be any more grateful to everyone that helped us make it so special!
