From the bride

How we met:

Brady and I met back in 2009 through mutual friends and quickly became best friends at first sight. Our group of friends spent pretty much every weekend together and then I graduated and moved to Columbia, Missouri to attend Mizzou.

One would think Brady, being a die-hard KU fan, would want nothing to do with Mizzou, but he sure started visiting Columbia a lot after that. It worked out great because I was also able to see him when I would come back home to visit.

After a couple more years of this “friends” business, my roommates and I decided to throw our annual Ugly Christmas Sweater party. Obviously, Brady made an appearance in his ugliest Christmas attire. Something about those ugly outfits must have really sent the sparks flying. That day we decided to finally take a chance and see what these long-time crushes were all about. This ended up being the best decision of our lives because we have been together ever since.

Our wedding:

Brady and I wanted our wedding to be moody and intimate. It was important for us to share our special day with the ones that have loved and supported us the whole way. Our ceremony and reception both took place at the gorgeous, Loose Mansion. We knew this venue was perfect for us from the moment we laid eyes on it. Our moody theme was mostly portrayed in our flowers, that consisted of lots of greenery and hues of burgundy, dusty rose, navy, gold, dark red, etc.

Our wedding party consisted of family members; my sister was my only bridesmaid and Brady’s brother was his only groomsman. My grandpa was our officiant and led a Christian ceremony, supporting our personal beliefs. Also, instead of our ring bearer carrying our rings down the aisle, he carried a Bible that was the same Bible that my grandmother carried down the aisle at her wedding 65 years ago. This was such a sentimental piece for me. Also, side note, Brady and I are parents to two wonderful poodles, Henry and George. The original plan was for my sister to carry the poodles down the aisle instead of a bouquet, but George (the puppy) was just a little too rambunctious to make that dream a reality.

Every detail in our wedding had a meaning and, cliche as it may sound, our wedding was truly one of the best days of our life. The day went so smoothly and it was so spcial to spend the day with loved ones that support and lift us up. It was the best beginning to the rest of our lives together.
