From the bride: Kris and I were set up through a mutual friend. We had a blind date scheduled with our friend and her husband for a Saturday night, but actually hung out everyday for a week until the actual “blind date.” I would say it was love at first sight.

Our first year together was spent long distance, he played professional baseball and I was working back here in Kansas City. I would travel every other weekend to where he was in order to spend time together. In October, when he was back in Kansas City for the off season, I came home from work and he was waiting in my bedroom with “Marry Me” spelled out in rose petals on the bed, it was perfect.

This past year was an absolute whirlwind. Kris took an opportunity to play professional baseball in Japan, and instead of having a (really) long distance relationship again we decided that we would experience the crazy ride together. Which meant I was planning a wedding in a completely different country! Thankfully I had been planning this day since I was a little girl and had somewhat of an idea of what I wanted. Kris and I spent the three months before he left picking out the venue and vendors we liked and the rest was left to long distance communication and my amazing Mom running errands for me! I would say our wedding was a mix of vintage, romantic , with a hint of rustic mixed in. Of course we added a little touch of baseball in to the big day since it is such a big part of our life. Instead of having bubbles or sparklers as we left the church we deciding to have our wedding party hold up baseball bats for us to walk under, it actually turned out very cute and is one of my favorite photos from the day! We also had a baseball grooms cake, which turned out amazing, I am sad to say our cake vendor decided to retire from the business. I also was not able to do any DIY since I was not at home during the planning process, so I was thankful to have a great friend that does amazing paper and sign making. She did all of our invites, programs, and signs for the reception. My Dad also made an awesome light up sign for the outside of our venue since it really did not have a sign for guests to know they were at the right place. Our flowers were an absolute dream. Beco Flowers did such a fabulous job on our bouquets and centerpieces, the flowers made everything come together perfectly. My dream dress from Altar Bridal mixed with my beautiful bouquet made me feel like a princess on my wedding day. About my reception; I would recommend Feasts of Fancy to anyone, from the venue, to the staff, and the most delicious food ever, they are the absolute best! Last but not least our photographer did such an amazing job at capturing our day. Kenny Felt was fun, easy going and great to work with. Our wedding day was full of fun, laughter and love. I married my best friend surrounded by family and friends and I could not have pictured a more perfect day.
