We are so happy to share Chelsea and Jonathan’s garden wedding in Omaha, NE. Chelsea was such a sweet bride to have in our store, so happy to get married and so happy to fall in love with Anna Campbell. We hope you enjoy these romantic photos captured by Ashley Crawford Photography as much as we did!
From the bride:
How we met: On January 25th, 2013, we both had the opportunity to help lead an overnight lock-in for high school students through Concordia University, the college we both attended at the time. Together we led Bible studies and games, served food and tried to stay awake all night long. After that night, I [Jonathan] knew that I wanted Chelsea to be a part of my life and worked hard to earn her attention and admiration.
How he asked: I [Chelsea] was taken to get a mani/pedi with Jonathan’s mom. Unbeknownst to me, Jonathan was with his dad and brothers setting up a romantic scene at Westside Park (Fenton, MO). After getting our nails done, Jonathan’s mom said we should go watch the boys play basketball since it was such a nice day out. Once we arrived at the park, I realized there was something very different planned. We walked over to the pond area and I saw Jonathan in the distance standing in the middle of a bridge. Jonathan and I met at the end of the bridge, which was lined with candles and flower petals. We held hands as we walked to the middle of the bridge, where Jonathan got down on one knee and popped the question! And I said, “YES!”
Inspiration for the wedding: I really just wanted everything to simply be classy. But also to reflect the commitment we were making before everyone and Jesus, as well as some of the things that have been a part of our relationship thus far. Most of our stationary had floral influences which was inspired by the botanical garden where our ceremony and reception took place. When deciding on the bridal party outfits, we wanted them to be just right for a garden wedding – more informal but still classy.
I wanted my dress to be slim and elegant. I’ve loved Anna Campbell as a dress designer ever since I discovered Pinterest. I traveled 3 hours just to try on some Anna Campbell dresses at Altar Bridal! I knew the Tallulah dress fit almost everything I wanted in a dress, but after trying it on, I knew my dream of wearing an Anna Campbell dress was going to come true. I had some very special ladies come with me for my fitting and everyone loved the Tallulah dress hands down! The Blossom headpiece was a perfect addition as well. I was so thankful Altar Bridal had exactly what I wanted to wear on my wedding day!
For our unity ceremony, we chose to plant a flower. This symbolized for us the fact that we were vowing to grow together, not simply come together as a couple. We decided to have cupcakes instead of a large cut cake for our guests, because who doesn’t want their own personal cake? As favors for our guests, we gave personalized fortune cookies in small gift boxes. Both Jonathan and I love Chinese food and whenever Jonathan ate it without me, he would always save the fortune cookies and surprise me with them every so often. For our send off, I really wanted some fireworks! But the Garden didn’t allow that so we went with glow sticks instead. The send off was so fun and our photographer captured some magic. Our wedding was wonderful, but marriage is even better and we feel so blessed!
