Things to do:
The Nelson Atkins Museum of Art– We love a good museum, and the Nelson-Atkins is exceptionally special! With a huge collection of art from all styles, it’s never a boring visit. (Bonus: it’s also free!) While you’re there, you can eat in the Rozelle Court, made in the style of a 15th Century Italian Courtyard!
Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art– This museum features both a curated permanent collection and new exhibits! You can also check out their restaurant, Cafe Sebastienne, for some great modern eats!
Union Station– There’s so much to do and see at Union Station, it’s hard to run out of things to do! Catch a movie, see one of their travelling exhibits, or just hang out by the model trains with some great coffee.
Up-Down Bar– If you’re into great drinks and arcades, this is the spot for you! From classic arcade games to life-size jenga, there’s something to keep you entertained all night! Not to mention, all games are just 25 cents.
First Fridays in the Crossroads Art District– On the first Friday of every month, head down to the Crossroads for live music, art, and local businesses coming together for a fun and unique event!
The Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens– 300 acres of gardens, hiking trails, and scenic views. Check out their Monet Garden, take a stroll around the lake, or take a walk through the sculpture garden!
The Museum at Prairie Fire– Once you’re done looking through the travelling exhibit from the American Museum of Natural History and checking out the T-Rex Fossil, there’s plenty of shopping and eating to do in the Prairie Fire Shopping District!
Stay-cation in Weston, MO– For a little more elaborate date, try heading out to historic Weston, Mo! You can check out museums, shopping, and charming restaurants while staying in one of several gorgeous bed and breakfast options!

Char Bar– What’s not to love about delicious and classic Kansas City Barbecue? Not to mention their Beer Garden, featuring classic lawn games like croquet and cornhole!
Q39– Since Kansas City seems to be pretty fierce about it’s barbecue, we figured it’d be best to include more than one option for you! Q39 features award winning smoked meats and classic sides. If your SO is a foodie, it’s definitely worth checking out!
Anton’s – American food with a focus on sustainable practices, you can enjoy your food here and feel good about eating it!
Rye– Try out this popular Farm to Table restaurant with fresh American styled food and a tasty dessert menu.
Pad Thai– If you’re in the mood for asian cuisine, this place will not disappoint. With delicious curries, stir fries, and some pretty delicious mango ice cream for dessert, you’ll love trying pretty much anything on the menu!
Pizza 51– Who doesn’t love pizza?! Enough Said.
Dessert:
Betty Rae’s– Seriously, this place is worth the wait in line. (Ice cream usually is, but this place even moreso!) You can explore their classic flavors like Strawberry, or Mint Chocolate Chip; or, branch out and try something totally unique like Kansas City Joe’s Burnt End flavor! Plus, they change flavors out often, so you never know what unique thing you might get to try next.
Upper Crust Pie Bakery– This cute little shop is the perfect spot to enjoy a slice of fresh made pie with your hunny.
Black Dog Coffee House– If you’re into pastries and lattes, this coffee shop has a great offering of both!
Andre’s– For the perfect rich and decadent treat, try out some of Andre’s delicious chocolates, tortes, and cookies!
