Real Bride: Chelsea B.

We are thrilled to share our real bride Chelsea and Lonnie’s wedding in downtown Kansas City. Lark Photography captured absolutely stunning photos of their big day. The two of them enjoyed every moment and definitely made time to focus on the celebration of their marriage. When you are done swooning over the images, do yourself a favor and read a little about the couple below. You will be tearing up after you read their “Say Yes” mentality and a snippet from their vows. Chelsea, thank you so much for being such a great bride to work with. We wish you and Lonnie all the happiness that life can bring.

From the bride:

The theme of our wedding was “YES.” Lonnie & I met in 2013, when I was in the middle of having a “Yes Year” – saying yes to every opportunity that came my way. Lonnie was one of my “yes’s” and that theme has carried on throughout our relationship. We believe that “Yes” is more powerful than “I do” because we have to choose to say yes to each other every single day. Here are our vows:

“I promise to say yes.
I promise to show you how much I appreciate you through both large and small acts.
Especially when things are hard, I promise to remember that we are both doing the best we can, and that everything we do and say comes from a place of love. I promise to accept you for you, and I promise to always strive to be the best version of me.
I promise to show compassion – both to you and to myself, and that I will always try to give you the benefit of the doubt.
I promise that as we grow old together, that I will have more laugh lines than frown lines, and that I will always try for us.
I promise to say yes to you. Yes to us. Yes to adventure and to laughter and back scratches… and closing the cupboard doors that you will inevitably leave open. I will say yes to supporting you, and to tackling this world as a unit. I promise to say yes to kissing you when I get home, and laughing at your terrible jokes. Today, I am saying yes to a lifetime of loving and supporting you and everything you do. Every single day.”

We would do our wedding the same way every single time. We got married on the rooftop of Terrace on Grand. My cousin got ordained and married us in a short, meaningful ceremony. Lonnie & I said vows to each other, and the we both said them to my step-son, Parker, who covered his eyes when we kissed, which made for some adorable photos. Everything flowed perfectly for the evening – we said our “yes’s,” signed the marriage license, went right into the first dance & toasts, and our guests enjoyed passed appetizers for dinner. We opted to have more high tops than low seated tables so that people would be encouraged to move around & dance. The toasts were funny and tasteful and meaningful, and we were able to say hello to every single guest. It truly was one of the best days of our lives – surrounded by every single person we love – all in one place on one day. Our photo booth was a huge hit!

We feel so blessed to have literally the best family & friends in the world. We couldn’t have made the day what it was without their help.
